Corporate Yoga

Create a Work/Life Balance For Employees

Corporate yoga allows the employees to stay at work and have the yoga class come to them! Most employees complain about being overworked and over-stressed. Most managers complain about needing more productivity from employees. Find a balance to this by teaching your employees how to relax and maintain optimal health by implementing an on-site corporate yoga program.

Our corporate yoga sessions are designed to do so much more than alleviate pain in the body due to sitting too long or from prolonged typing. From our yoga sessions, we help your employees build a stable physical and mental foundation through movement and meditation that brings balance to the body and mind. These classes are training sessions to help them learn to deal with stressful situations by maintaining a calm mind while doing a challenging pose. This helps them deal with stressful situations that effect them in any and all aspects of work and life.

The result? A clearer mind, and less affliction from stress. Stress is something that we all experience and it comes in many different forms. From doing a steady yoga practice, you and your team will learn how to control the breath and the mind, which helps slow down all other systems in the body. I'm sure you've heard of 'fight or flight'? Emotional or physical stress that stays around for weeks or months can weaken the immune system and cause high blood pressure, fatigue, depression, anxiety and even heart disease. In particular, too much epinephrine can be harmful to your heart. It can change the arteries and how their cells are able to regenerate. With yoga, your employees will learn how to breathe through hard, challenging poses. The beauty of the yoga program is that it's a safe environment that can work with different ability levels. Each person works to their own limits and the ability to keep their breath calm dictates to them how far they should go in the pose, or how long they can hold it. Learning to control the breath is the secret sauce to why yoga has been so popular for over 5,000 years and has a strong presence on every continent.

Why Start a Workplace Yoga Program?

There are so many reasons to do this, but let’s start with the benefit to the workplace. Yoga has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety, and increase energy, focus, motivation and overall feelings of well-being. This means happier, more productive employees. And for the employees, it means a convenient way to de-stress, re-balance and get healthier, without having to carve out time outside of the office.

How Do You Start?

This will depend largely on your company culture. Often, employees bring forth this idea for implementation, or sometimes it comes from the company leader or leaders. Either way, it is helpful to get a little input from employees regarding their intentions for practicing, and also to surface any pre-conceived notions about Yoga. An experienced teacher has the training to make sure your employees are comfortable and safe in class. To introduce the classes, consider scheduling a short session or “lunch and learn” to introduce some basic concepts and share more of the details and benefits.

Where Will You Practice?

Again, this depends on your workplace. If you have a large conference room that is ideal, however, you can practice anywhere that you can create space for the group. This may be your break-room, a large office or entryway, a company gym, or cafeteria, even outside on a nice day.  Employees can either bring their own mats to create their personal space during class, or we can provide mats depending on what is decided upon. We also offer off-site classes at our studio or weekend/week long corporate retreats.

When Should We Have the Classes?

On-site classes generally happen once a week. Classes can be before or at the start of the day, at lunchtime or at the end of the work day. Before starting the class it is good to get feedback from employees on this.
